Dewsbury, UK, 8th May, 2017, The Racor Filter Division Europe of Parker Hannifin Corporation is investing £990,000 into technology research and development at its Dewsbury, UK facility. The investment includes a 50% match funded grant from Innovate-UK - the UK’s innovation agency working with people, companies and partner organisations to find and drive the science and technology innovations that will grow the UK economy.
The work carried out will provide enhanced understanding of how super impaction separation techniques can be adapted and applied to various sized diesel engines to meet increasingly stringent customer performance requirements. Parker Racor will also be extending research and development to specifically develop advanced crankcase ventilation engine technology for prolonging the optimal performance of medium and heavy duty trucks. Exploring advanced crankcase ventilation filter systems by using an innovative super impaction technique will lead to solutions that protect vehicle turbochargers from fouling, and therefore prolong system peak performance over lifetime.
Primary outputs from the grant and investment will include product prototype validation on the Racor engine test rig to confirm performance benefits on various engine sizes, and the development of pilot production cells for lead customers. The project is expected to run for 18 months with 33 new employment opportunities created as a result.
