Erie, Pennsylvania, 3rd June 2020 – Parker Instrumentation Products Division - Autoclave Engineers (AE) of Parker Hannifin Corp., the global leader in motion and control technologies, announces that its specially modified needle and check valves have qualified for use in Hydrogen fuelling stations per ISO 19880-3 specifications. In addition, these valves are approved by the Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS) for use in upcoming projects in South Korea.
Each type valve is available with two different styles of connections suitable for pressures up to 15,000 or 20,000 psi (100 MPa or 138 MPa) and incorporates special features that seal this small molecular gas efficiently.
The need for more sustainable, energy efficient vehicles that release zero pollution, i.e. water vapor instead of CO2 into the atmosphere, is steadily on the rise. As a result, demand for more high-pressure (70 MPa) Hydrogen filling stations to fuel these next-generation vehicles, which are currently being developed by several manufacturers around the world, is increasing.
The Hydrogen variation to these needle valves incorporates a unique STEM/SEAT and PACKING design that can withstand temperatures ranging between -73°C and 316°C and pressures of up to 20,000 psi (138 MPa) while increasing cycle life by as much as 40%. Both the needle and check valves are available with any Parker Instrumentation connection options including cone & thread fittings and MPITMmedium pressure fittings.
Suitable for all Hydrogen-powered vehicles – cars, buses, trucks – 35 and 70 MPa Hydrogen fuel stations consist of a dispenser that enables vehicles to be filled up with H2 fuel, which has been compressed up to 100 MPa, delivered quickly, and stored safely away from the individual pumps.
Other Parker Autoclave Engineers’ products that are suitable for this application include fittings, tubing, check valves, and filters. These utilise a medium-pressure coned & threaded connection or MPITMmedium pressure fittings for leak-tight reliable performance.
