Learn About Pumps From Parker at Waste Expo 2018

Marysville, Ohio, April 20, 2018 – The Hydraulic Pump and Power Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, invites you to learn more about hydraulic pumps during Waste Expo 2018.

 

On display will be medium and high pressure pumps, piston and vane pumps, open circuit and closed circuit pumps, fixed and variable displacement pumps.

 

Two of the newest hydraulic pumps being featured are the new P1M and VP1 pumps. The P1M is a compact, medium pressure, open circuit piston pump being introduced to the refuse market for the first time. The VP1 is a very narrow, high pressure, open circuit piston pump. Both are variable displacement pumps that are more narrow and compact than most of their other counterparts on the market, allowing them to fit into tighter spaces and making it easier to install on the power take off unit.

 

“The envelopes are getting smaller and users are asking for more output, larger flows and higher pressures, so there’s a conflict there,” said Keith McDonald, product manager, Hydraulic Pump and Power Division. “Both of these pumps pack a lot of power into a small space and are ideal for many transfer truck, landfill and forestry applications. The P1M offers a continuous operating pressure of more than 4,000 (276 bar) and the VP1 more than 5800 psi (400 bar).”

 

Vane pumps on display will include the OASIS (Operate at Standard Idle Speed) and Long Life pumps. Long Life pumps are fixed displacement pumps with a manifold that controls flow. As the name implies, OASIS pumps allow transfer trucks to operate their hydraulics at idle speeds, making them operate more quietly and fuel efficiently.

 

“In days past, transfer trucks would have to rev their engines to between 1,500 and 1,800 rpm to generate the horsepower and hydraulic pressure required to operate their arm and packer. It was loud,” said McDonald. “OASIS pumps operate at 300 rpm. They paved the way for waste collectors to operate at night in residential neighborhoods. They also save energy and use less fuel. Think about what that could mean to a fleet of 500 trucks that use one or two fewer gallons of diesel per truck every day. Do the math and the savings really add up.”

 

The workhorses of Parker’s mobile pumps are the P series. They set the bar for power and durability and are used in many heavy duty mobile applications. The P1 series are variable displacement axial piston pumps for open-circuit mobile applications. The P2 and P3 series offer a cost-saving direct mount on most typical mobile transmissions. The P3 series have an internal impeller that supercharges the pump to boost flow, which allows for operation at higher speeds.

 

For rugged applications in forestry, landfill and other outdoor applications, the Parker Gold Cup hydrostatic piston pumps and motors set the bar high. They are the most durable pumps Parker manufactures for severe duty work. Gold Cup pumps are closed circuit, variable displacement piston pumps with operating pressures to 6,000 psi (413 bar) and speeds to 3600 rpm. The Gold Cup family of pumps and motors consists of seven displacements, ranging from 100 to 500 cubic centimeters.
